DNA is the acronym
for a molecule called deoxyribonucleic acid. Often described as "the
basic building block of life", or the "blueprint of the body",
it is the genetic material of all organisms which is responsible for determining
the inherited uniqueness of any living being.
Every individual, with the exception of identical twins,
has a distinctive DNA make-up that defines that person's genetic characteristics.
A child inherits their DNA from both parents. The results of the test
either exclude the tested individual or give a probability of parentage.
This is usually shown in percentages. If the man is excluded it means
he is not the father. His DNA profile did not match the profile of the
child.
DNA paternity testing is the most dependable and powerful
method of proving or disproving parentage. It conclusively answers difficult
questions, settles disputes, helps streamline court proceedings and facilitates
pretrial settlements. Confidentiality is strictly maintained throughout
the entire testing process and test results will be sent only to the individuals
that requested the analysis and provided the testing samples. |
